We are often asked for recommendations of places to eat and drink near our holiday cottages. Although everybody’s tastes and requirements are different, we have put together a few suggestions which we hope you find useful.

These suggestions are by no means exhaustive and you will find many more pubs and restaurants in the local area.
Sheldon & Neighbouring Villages
The following pubs and restaurants are a short drive (or longer walk) from Town End Holiday Cottage and Keepers Cottage and 2 Victoria Cottages.

The Cock & Pullet
Just a short stroll from Town End Holiday Cottage and Keepers Cottage, The Cock & Pullet is a traditional dog friendly village pub in the centre of Sheldon.
This cosy pub is popular with locals and walkers, offering a warm open fire, local ales and good value pub food.
Bakewell
The following pubs and restaurants are all within walking distance of 2 Victoria Cottages and just a 10 minute drive from Town End Holiday Cottage and Keepers Cottage.

The Rutland Arms
The recently refurbished Rutland Arms Hotel is located in the heart of Bakewell and has a stylish restaurant and bar.
This historic Bakewell landmark serves tempting menus, using locally sourced ingredients, traditional afternoon teas and an wide range of drinks and cocktails.

Thornbridge Tap Room
Thornbridge Tap Room is located in the Riverside Business Park, Bakewell alongside their Riverside Brewery.
The Tap Rom is open daily and serves brewery fresh beer and handmade pizzas. There is also a range of Thornbridge beers available to take away.

The Manners
The Manners is a friendly, family run pub in Bakewell.
Their restaurant serves freshly cooked and locally sourced pub classics, alongside their signature dishes of slow roast belly pork and hanging chicken kebab.

The Woodyard
The Woodyard is located in a historic mill building, next to the River Wye in Bakewell.
Currently serving their April garden menu, with a selection of breakfast options, take away pizzas and a variety of burgers.

Lovage
Lovage is centrally located in Bakewell and describes itself as a modern British restaurant with a casual country vibe.
Choose from their A La Carte or Tasting Menu in the main restaurant or enjoy a coffee and cake in their onsite coffee shop.

The Peacock
This historic former coaching inn offers pub classics, regional favourites and rustic French dishes using locally sourced ingredients.
They also serve a traditional Sunday Lunch and have plenty of outdoor seating available during the Summer months.
